Will Chemists officially launched its state-of-the-art pharmacy at Inverurie, Aberdeenshire

With the ceremonial cutting of a ribbon by Scotland’s First Minister Alex Salmond, Will Chemists officially launched its state-of-the-art pharmacy at Inverurie,  Aberdeenshire, following a major renovation,  rebranding  and extension for accommodating a new dispensing robot.

Designed and fitted out by specialists Dollar Rae, the development of the dynamic, individual and enticing new-look pharmacy has introduced major improvements in patient care delivery, dispensing efficiency and safety, product presentation, visual identity, signage and graphics communications, and brand image.

In 1400sq.ft, the re-designed and expanded space created at 35 West High Street  represents a raising of standards for the already successful pharmacy and a move in a more professional and upmarket direction.

The £150,000 gravity-fed robot installed at the rear of the open-plan dispensary is intended to take the strain out of dispensing in the pharmacy which at present accounts for 75 per cent of the overall turnover. It can dispense 180 products a minute, supplying a complete prescription in 10 to 15 seconds. The robot can also hold and issue completed prescriptions.“Will Chemists has been an integral part of Inverurie’s thriving town centre for the past 21 years,” the local Inverurie Herald newspaper reported Mr Salmond saying.”And it’s great to see the business taking solid steps to remain at the forefront of technology and prepare for a long future in the town.”

Provided within a larger consultation room than the one in use before the refit, the range of patient services include a travel health clinic, Medicine Use Reviews (MURs), diagnostic testing, smoking cessation, cholesterol testing, diabetes screening, blood pressure monitoring, and emergency hormonal contraception.  As well as boasting the latest technology with the robotic equipment, the remodelled pharmacy  features  an impressive and expansive perfumery section.  It comprises a collection of fragrances and skincare products that has been built up over the years and is now reckoned to be the best in the whole North East of Scotland in terms of selection and prices.
In the perfumery, Dollar Rae introduced high-impact retail merchandising displays of a broader and deeper product mix, specialist lighting and  clear department sign-posting.
